Cheshire Reds Baseball | Cheshire Youth Baseball
The Cheshire Reds is the travel baseball program within Cheshire Youth Baseball and Softball (CYB&S), open to Cheshire residents or students attending school within Cheshire.
The shared objectives among Reds coaches, players, and parents are:
- Provide a fun experience for all
- Develop and advance players’ baseball skills and knowledge
- Play competitive baseball in the greater New Haven area and beyond
- Represent Cheshire and CYB positively wherever Reds teams play
Tryouts & Registration
Tryouts are announced via this site and Cheshire Reds website. Usually after Labor Day, 3–4 sessions per team. Rosters finalized in late fall, registration opens in December.
Season Timeline
The season runs from early April to mid-July. Teams typically play 25–40 games and practice at least once per week. Non-league tournaments are optional.
Winter Workouts
Workouts begin indoors in January at school gyms and private facilities until outdoor fields are available.
Dual Participation
Players may also participate in CYB leagues. Families should consider cost and time commitments.
Governance
The Reds Committee, consisting of the VP of Reds and team managers, governs the program. VP of Reds is part of the CYB Executive Committee for communication.
