About the COMETS Program

The COMETS are Cheshire’s select Little League Travel Baseball program, designed to give players the tools, training, and opportunities they need to succeed. Our program provides:

1. Pre-season training and winter conditioning
2. Focused skills instruction from experienced coaches
3. District and regional travel games against competitive opponents

At the conclusion of the spring league, COMETS players become eligible for official Little League tournaments across Connecticut — and for some, the All-Star journey to the Little League World Series begins! The LLWS is the world's largest youth sports tournament, broadcast nationally every summer on ESPN.

New for 2025: East Shore Travel League

We are excited to announce that our Comets 8U and 9U teams will join the East Shore Travel League this spring! This expansion offers a more structured and competitive schedule for young athletes ready to take the next step in their baseball journey.

• Coordinated scheduling with nearby programs to reduce conflicts
• Balanced competition and more opportunities for development

Players will compete in East Shore league play in addition to their CYB Little League season, ensuring a great mix of instruction, fun, and competition. This dual structure allows more players to access travel-level baseball while maintaining a connection to our community Little League program.

District Travel Baseball at a Glance

The COMETS program supplements your regular Cheshire Youth Baseball (CYB) Little League season by providing additional instruction and competitive weekend games to prepare players for summer tournaments.

Eligibility

1. Any CYB player can try out for the COMETS
2. Players will be registered for CYB in the same season
3. COMETS participation is in addition to the regular CYB schedule

Schedule Highlights

1. Winter conditioning included
2. One weekday practice plus Sunday travel games
3. Games typically start between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM
4. All games are limited to two hours
5. The COMETS season concludes at the same time as CYB Little League

Summer Opportunities

COMETS players are encouraged to try out for All-Star and Sea Breeze Tournament teams, which continue through mid-July.

Program Costs & Inclusions

An additional fee applies for COMETS participation:

1. 2026 Fee: TBD
2. Covers league dues, insurance, umpire fees, winter clinics, team equipment, and consumables
3. Includes a COMETS jersey and practice shirt
